A very palatable protein and energy succulent feed which is produced as part of a human food process producing alcohol, starch and vital wheat gluten from UK wheat, exclusively from the Cerestar processing facility in Trafford Park, Mancester. The wheat (which is mainly supplied direct from farm) is coarsely milled and the resulting flour is then mixed with water to liquify it. This solution is then processed to separate vital wheat gluten from the various grades of starch which are then either refined (and mainly converted into glucose syrups) or used to produce alcohol in the on-site distillery. The distillery produces a liquid that is high in inert yeast (which is an excellent source of both protein and energy) and this is mixed with the wheat mill products (which are high in digestible fibre and have a good level of starch) to produce a highly nutritious and high dry matter moist feed. C¶Traffordgold is a good source of digestible fibre, protein and starch. It is rich in inert yeast (produced from the on-site distillery) which, apart from being high in protein and energy, helps maintain rumen function. It is ideally suited to milk production as its protein compliments forage, and has also proven to be an excellent feed for beef cattle and youngstock. it can be incorporated into many feeding systems, but care should be taken to ensure a good source of long fibre is present and that adequate minerals and vitamin supplementation is available. As C¶Traffordgold is produced in a UK food factory, it has to meet the many, vigourous quality standards and has to be highly consistent and fully traceable. Loads should be tipped onto a clean concrete surface (preferably in a temporary or permanent bunker) compacted down (it is essential to exclude all air and water from the silo to successfully store the product) covered with a clean plastic sheet, preferably Silostop, and be evenly weighted with with Secure Covers, straw bales or the like (tyres are not ideal). The open face of the silo should be kept clean and tidy and the area exposed to the atmosphere be small. C¶Traffordgold can be fed to dairy cows (up to 10kgs per day) youngstock (up to 6kgs per day), Beef cattle (up to a third of the dry matter for beef fattening diets i.e. 50% New Traffordgold and 50% cereals/protein on a fresh weight basis), store cattle (up to 6kg per day) and sheep (up to 2kg per day for ewes and fattening lambs as long as adequate fibre sources (hay/straw) are also available).
